ACN Scam: What You Can Learn

9

During your search for a valid business opportunity you come across ACN. You get on the web and carry out a search to find out more. On the very first page of your search you encounter a number of “ACN scam” results, but is this really a sign that you need to stay away from ACN?

ACN (originally known as the American Commissions Network) is a multi-level company founded by Robert Stevanoski, Greg Provenzano and Tony and Mike Cupisz in January 1993. ACN offers local and long distance telephone service, voice over internet protocol (VoIP), dial-up and high speed internet service, satellite television, cellular phones and home security services.

ACN was claimed as the world’s largest direct selling telecommunications and home services provider. They were even endorsed by business icon, Donald Trump. Furthermore, the company has established their headquarters in several countries namely, Sweden, the Netherlands, South Korea, Canada and Australia.

Be Skeptical Of ACN Scam Reports

Online write ups about an ACN scam are often published by individuals who have secret agendas. People immediately focus on articles titled, “ACN Is A Scam“, only to find out the writer thinks ACN is indeed a legitimate opportunity, and they’ve joined it and want you to join them now too!

Of course, you can come across feedback from distributors who are really displeased with their experience with ACN. Their experiences more often point to other problems in the company or it’s distributors, rather than scam or fraud issues.

In many networking opportunities, there’s always a minimum monthly required purchase that you would need to comply with in order to get commissions.

With regards to the compensation plan ACN offers, the first step is to invest an upfront amount to join. From here, you can do direct selling of the products and receive direct commissions from your customers. Then to earn extra commission streams, you can expand your organization by recruiting new independent representatives and earn a commission on their sales too. The more people you train, the larger your organization gets; the bigger money or override commissions you’ll earn.

ACN: When It Comes Down To It

After you’ve done all the research you may come to the realization that ACN really supplies a legitimate business opportunity. This may be so but it doesn’t mean that it’s the right opportunity for you.

Even after spending hours with their training and getting to know more about them and their products you will not appreciate the real potential until you start reaching prospective customers and telling them about the ACN. To be able to sell products you have to continuously promote them. To get others to join your team you need to let them know about ACN and its potential.

The question still remains, how will YOU make a success of your new business? Are you comfortable introducing ACN to your family and friends?

Are your sales strategies good enough to help you access thousands of willing prospects?

Do you have what it takes to drive traffic to your ACN website?

These are the questions that you need to be thinking about rather than dwelling on the “ACN scam” question, wouldn’t you agree?

Imagine standing face to face with your Mom, your brother, your stepfather, your boss, your best friend, your neighbor, your pastor, or your coworker, etc. Now picture yourself telling them that you are in a pyramid scheme and you want their money. How do you think they will react? How do you think they will treat you? Do you think it will change the way they act around you?

Even if you describe ACN as this wonderful company and business opportunity, all they will hear is “another pyramid scheme”. Because let’s face it, everyone has been bombarded with these before, in some form or another (Amway, Avon). All claim to be different, but none ever are. And everyone knows this. So don’t get caught up in all the fluff and hype and the picture ACN wants to paint for you. It will come down to you having to sign up all the people you know, and I guarantee that all of them will either roll their eyes, laugh at you, and tell you NO, or they will sign up and then resent you later once both of you lose your money. Imagine people you love and care about completely dismissing your life goals and laughing in your face an making fun of you. That is what you will bring onto yourself by joining ACN. But don’t worry, once you quit they will eventually forget about it and treat you normally again.

Now imagine this, you join ACN with a positive attitude and good work ethic, only to find out that it is not at all like it has been made out to you to be. You now have a choice: quit and lose all your time and money that you’ve invested thus far, or continue on. Being determined and unwilling to accept failure, you soldier on. But the problems never get any better, only worse. You burn through all your contacts, burning bridges and destroying your reputation in the process. Most of the time you feel like you are moving backwards, despite all your work, not forward. But you know that quitting, which the voice in the back of your head is telling you to do, is not an option. It not only means failure, it means all your financial goals will never come true in this business. That means your dreams will never come true. So you continue to soldier on.
Then you luck out, you have some modest success and sign a few folks up. You make a modest bonus, but then the people you sign up drop out in a few months, leaving you even worse off than before. Because the small bonus you made was offset by all the time, gas, and money you spent on recruiting them and dragging them to meetings. Again, you think about quitting, but now you feel like you are even more committed because you’ve now wasted even MORE time and money. So you are at the point of no return now, no matter what happens you MUST go on. The payoff is surely right around the corner with enough hard work…right?
But the way the world works never changes, and people fundamentally don’t change either. People will always be leary of MLM and pyramid schemes and continue to blow you off, or quit soon after you sign them up. You now realize this is a losing battle, even despite your wishful thinking and positive attitude. But to quit now? So much time and money has been wasted! All those naysayers will get to finally say “I told you so!” How embarassing and depressing this will be. To finally be forced to give up and admit that you were scammed into trying to make a bad business work. Then realizing how many others you made lose money, all for nothing. It’s not only depressing and upsetting, but it’s an outrage. And who wants to be made to feel like this? It’s easier to just continue losing money and turn a blind eye to the inevitable rather than owning up to this failure.
This is why people stay in ACN. Most of them mean well, but they become emotionally and financially “locked in”, which is exactly what ACN wants. Were it not for this psychological tactic, ACN would never be able to keep their reps locked in for years and years, throwing good money after bad at a losing business. Bottomline, don’t join ACN unless you want this to happen to you.

Keeping it simple for everyone. For a startup fee of $499, and 25 new customers (services) you can make up to 10% of residual commissions per month (depending on service). I already have 8 of those services in my household.
The only other ingredient you really need to add is something called “work ethic”.
The ACN system is not perfect, but if you put your mind to it and really do your true best you will see profits.
Regarding the videophone, like any product, its something that has its own target market segment. I have 10 videophone customers who are mostly grandparents who like seeing their grand kids grow up.
It does take time for the residual money to grow. It really is intended as something to develop on the side, while working your full time job. Imagine building a gumball machine business a few locations at a time. Over time the income becomes significant.
Every endeavor is both an art and a science. Learn to be great at what is involved and you will excel!

@Roger:

Sorry, I disagree.
I am successful even without ACN. I just signed up and I can tell you when I talk people listen. Maybe your family does not trust you which can be turned around with a proper strategy. When you are successful people tend to want to listen to how you did it, Correct? Well I listen when real people show me what they are doing

Brian @ 3:16 pm #

Well if you weren’t born successful, then you have to work for success and earn it. But how can you become successful when even your own friends and family won’t enable your success? ACN has an answer to that. Fake it till you make it.
I think the irony which you will eventually experience Brian, is that it doesn’t matter if you are a complete loser or a bigshot businessman, because you will lose money in ACN. I’m sure your people listen to you and maybe even sign up, but that is only the beginning. You can’t make them successful if THEY can’t do it for themself. And ACN’s awful business practices certainly won’t enable many people to be successful, including you. Once they realize the videophone is a joke, energy is never coming to their state, and see everyone quitting around them….that’s when you’ll want to come back here for a healthy serving of crow….and a BIG “I told you so.”
